My father, Vincent A. Codispoti was the FO in the 401st, 612 with J.A. Clemens and crew.  Pop died on April 24, 2009 at the age of 86. He always spoke fondly of his crew members of the 612.  At his funeral was a large display of his time at Deenethorpe, station 128 as well as the aircraft (Heavenly Body, Fancy Nancy, and others. As ironic as it may be, Pops final years were spent in Kettering Ohio.

As with all veterans we are sad to see them passing and going aloft.  We regret your loss as well.

My sympathies on the loss of your father.  We were blessed with great men to guide us.

My Dad was ground crew chief on the Heavenly Body; who knows but that they knew each other.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I have NO DOUBT my father and your father knew each other. I recall occasions when Pop would comment on the ready condition of the aircraft and the horrible conditions the ground crews worked in (rain, cold, snow).

You are right about the amount of time worked by the ground crew in getting a ship ready for the next day mission.  It is unfortunate that a lot of this history is missing.  I hope to be able to get some of them on the new web site as I can such as Jeans father.
