Since I became the historian we have added 27 Crew Photos and 2 color A2 Jacket Art Photos to our web site.

We continue to make progress on our Historical Research Project:
  • Ed Dana has enhanced our database to allow us to enter the crewmen and aircraft that were flown on each mission.   This capability was tested by adding the five unique crews that flew with 2ndLt H.L. Holt (19 missions) to the database.   (These crews were not included in our original database).
  • Data for over 100 crew missions have been updated to include serial numbers of the aircraft flown.
  • We are still in the process of getting additional information from the National Archives, and will begin receiving information from Maxwell AFB that will complement the Group and subordinate units at Deenethorpe.
Vic Maslen’s 401st Unit Histories have been added to our web site.   I would like to thank Susan Cooper for getting these documents into a searchable PDF format.

I want to thank those who have made donations and encourage others to join in and help us to obtain the historical records available from the National Archives and Maxwell AFB.   These documents will allow us to continue to improve our web site and help us recognize and honor all of the veterans that served in “The Best Damn Outfit in the USAAF”.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation to support our research activities.

Our association and web site are dedicated to honoring the men who served in the 401st Bomb Group and preserving their memories.   We are always in need of pictures, diaries and documents to help us tell the stories of the 401st Bomb Group.   Please review our web site and provide us with missing information such as crew photos, aircraft serial numbers, and nicknames of aircraft that you may have.

I can be reached by email at Historian if you have any questions or things you wish to share.
